Education
Firstly, you should know I have not had any formal education in the area of genealogy or research.
My skills come from many years of hand on experience creating my own, and other peoples family trees. In addition, I have worked many years as a valued volunteer with our local Heritage society where I gained knowledge in data retrieval, entry and research.

I currently subscribe to several sites for research, and am not affiliated or in partnership with any company or business I may mention unless directly acknowledged.
Customer expectations
Please don't expect your tree to come to life over night. Research and collection of documents take time. Something that is not visible now, may come to light in six months. Be patient.
People like to think they are related to the latest on trend actor, artist or singer, or perhaps of royal decent. Put this out of your mind unless you have a strong argument for this. The last thing you need is disappointment. Be proud of who you are and where you come from.
Lastly, there may be no tangible records out there for your ancestor or due to spelling changes of names, they become elusive. My advise is to have no expectations. Sometimes for what ever reason, some people cannot, or do not want to be found. As a historian, I can only go by what is presented to me that is factual.
Monies Paid
All fees are payable in advance.
The initial deposit is non refundable.
Time, travel and purchases will be documented for your records and unused monies from the travel and document Kitties refunded at end of project.
Part of the hourly fee you pay goes toward the many subscriptions and memberships required to fully explore, research, document and create your family tree Gedcom* file
Privacy Laws
Genealogy Connections will purposely not divulge client personal information to third parties, and will make all attempts to keep records on file private. The project contract you sign with Genealogy Connections will allow the business to use your personal information ONLY for the purchase of legal documents. There will be times where legal documents held by a government body is protected under Australian Privacy laws. These records may need to be ordered by the client as identification will be required.

* A GEDCOM file is plain text (usually either ANSEL or ASCII) containing genealogical information about individuals, and meta data linking these records together. Most genealogy software supports importing from and exporting to GEDCOM format.
